About the Role
We are looking for a highly qualified Researcher to join our business development team. This team aims the development and assessment of effective technologies for the carbon capture, storage and utilization (CCUS) and perform technoeconomic (TEA) and life cycle assessments (LCA). In this role, you will lead inclusive processes that bring together communities, researchers, and businesses to explore and co-develop future-oriented solutions. Your work will span across Sustainability, circular economy, and climate transition, using participatory approaches to generate insight, foster dialogue, and turn shared ideas into actionable innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the synthetic fuels research line in the scope of CCUS, involving, but not limited to the development of new technologies and process optimization.
- Conduct research on point-source carbon capture and direct air capture (DAC), focusing on implementation, demonstration, and valorization pathways for different fuels.
- Design and optimize chemical processes for the production of sustainable fuels and other CO₂-based products.
- Perform process simulations of bioeconomy-related processes for CCUS applications.
- Conduct life cycle assessments (LCA) and techno-economic assessments (TEA) for industrial and R&D projects, providing actionable insights to reduce environmental impacts.
- Monitor and analyze national and international policies and regulations related to net-zero transition and CCUS technologies.
- Provide technical expertise in the integration of sustainability strategies and environmental best practices into existing operations.
- Prepare sustainability reports, policy briefs, presentations and other deliverables aligned with the latest environmental regulations and frameworks.
- Coordination of integrated projects involving multiple disciplines and technical areas.
- Identify potential partnerships and collaborate with external partners, research institutions and industry experts.
- Identify, prepare and write applications for competitive funding: Swedish, EU, and international funding proposals related to MG’s interest topics.
- Supervise and support PhD and Master’s students.
- Support in MG’s ongoing and future projects and facilitate partners communication
- Supporting organizational development activities to maintain company culture and growth environment
- Prepare clear reports and communication materials that document learnings and impact.
What We’re Looking For
- Expertise in Solar energy and carbon capture and utilization technologies towards bio-based fuels.
- Strong expertise in Aspen plus, CFD, SolidWorks software’s.
- More than 5 years of experience in LCA, using openLCA/SimaPro.
- Experience in environmental policy tracking and understanding of global sustainability regulations.
- Strong understanding of environmental impact categories such as global warming potential, resource depletion, and human health impacts.
- Experience with processes related to carbon neutrality, circular economy, energy transition and/or industrial symbiosis.
- Ability to work in both short-term and long-term projects.
- Proven experience in identifying and preparing applications for competitive funding.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems.
- Proven track record in R&D project management.
- Proven track record with different reactor technologies/ prototypes at different scales;
- Experience in supervising and coordinating the work of junior researchers.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems with an out-of-the-box approach;
- Excellent communication skills with a strong team spirit, fully open to collaborate with other teams (internal or external to the organization);
- Valid working permit/visa to work in Sweden.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Chemical Engineering, or relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Expertise in Solar energy and carbon capture and utilization technologies towards bio-based fuels.
- Software tools: Aspen plus, CFD, SolidWorks, openLCA/SimaPro, etc.
- Experience with reactor technologies and prototypes at different scales.
- Experience in environmental policy analysis and sustainability regulation tracking.
- Experience with additional modeling tools, programming languages, or data analysis methods relevant to CCUS and energy systems.
- Strong communication skills in English (Swedish is a plus).
