Arbetsbeskrivning

Luleå University of Technology experiences rapid growth with world-leading expertise within several research areas. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national and regional companies, the public sector and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has an annual turnover of just over SEK 2.3 billion. We have more than 1,800 employees and nearly 21,600 students. The research group in Electronic Systems at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is established in the areas of electronic design, electrical measurement technology, and electromagnetic compatibility. We are active in education as well as in several externally funded research projects carried out in collaboration with industry. We have access to a number of laboratories, including a shielded chamber for measurements of the effects of electromagnetic exposure and radiation. To strengthen our research in the field of electrical machines and electrical modelling, we are now looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow with ambitions within the academy for a two-year employment.  Subject description  Electronics systems include electronics design, measurement technology and electromagnetic compatibility for control, monitoring and instrumentation of technical processes and systems, with close connection to applications and applied research.  Project description  Your work will be embedded into a research project focused on modeling parasitic currents in electric drivetrains for industrial vehicles. The project aims to develop a thorough engineering framework of how high-frequency voltages from inverters give rise to leakage currents, shaft voltages, and bearing currents in the electromechanical parts of the drivetrain, including cable systems, electric machines, bearings, and chassis. The focus will be on identifying dominant coupling paths and critical design parameters influencing these phenomena. This project will provide a significant contribution to the development of state-of-the-art electric drivetrains in industrial vehicles regarding modeling, design, and experimental aspects. The work includes development of both physics-based and measurement-based models, as well as validation against experimental data. The models will be used to analyze how different design choices affect electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and reliability design objectives. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with industrial partners and other research groups with expertise in electric machines and tribology.  Duties  The work will mainly include research connected to the project described above. Supervision of students and active participation in our fundraising activities will be included in the tasks with a maximum of 20% of working hours.  Qualifications  To qualify for this position, you must have a Ph.D., a doctoral degree or a foreign degree corresponding to a Ph.D. or doctoral degree in electrical engineering or related subjects with a focus on electrical machines, electromagnetics, physics, or similar areas. Persons who have completed a doctoral degree no more than three years before the end of the application period are prioritized. You must have very good skills in the English language, both orally and in writing. Experience from modelling electrical and electromagnetic systems as well as work on electrical drive systems is an advantage. Also, experience in applied work with measurements and construction of experimental setups in electrical engineering is an advantage.  Further information  Full-time fixed term employment for two years with placement in Luleå. Starting: after agreement  For further information about the position, please contact Professor Jonny Johansson, (+46) 920-49 1703, [email protected]  Union representatives:  SACO-S Diana Chroneer,(+46 )920-49 2037 [email protected] OFR-S Marika Vesterberg, (+46) 920-49 1721 [email protected]  In case of different interpretations of the English and Swedish versions of this announcement, the Swedish version takes precedence.  Application  We prefer that you apply for this position by clicking on the apply button below. The application should include a CV, personal letter and copies of verified diplomas from high school and universities. Mark your application with the reference number below. Your application, including diplomas, must be written in English or Swedish.  Closing date for applications: 5 May 2026  Reference number: 2787-2026
