Control Application Engineer – Power Quality and Energy Systems

Role Description

We are looking for a Control Application Engineer for an assignment in Västerås with a global technology company in the energy sector. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining control functionality for advanced power quality solutions used in large-scale energy projects.

As part of a cross-functional project team, you will collaborate with specialists in SCADA, HMI, networks, and cybersecurity throughout the design, implementation, verification, and commissioning phases. The position provides the opportunity to work with innovative technologies driving the transition toward sustainable power systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement control functions for power quality and power conversion systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system integration and performance
• Conduct verification and validation of control functions through simulation and testing
• Participate in commissioning activities and provide technical support
• Contribute to continuous improvement and standardization of control applications

Requirements

• BSc or MSc in Engineering (Control systems, Power systems, Automatic control, Software engineering, or similar)
• 2–6 years of relevant experience
• Solid understanding of control theory and power electronics
• Experience with PI/PID control algorithms and function block programming
• Knowledge of MATLAB and real-time simulation tools (e.g., Hardware-in-the-Loop testing)
• Excellent command of English; Swedish is an advantage

Meriting

• Familiarity with FACTS applications and the MACH™ system
