Specialist System Design Engineer, Electromobility

What you will do
Volvo Group Electromobility is changing the automotive world, and we are now looking for you who want to be part of making this change happen in our industry! The Electromobility organization is responsible for the complete development of the lifecycle of our electric powertrains – from advanced engineering through product development into the maintenance phase. The function has a truly purpose-driven leadership and together we drive Electromobility transition based on cutting-edge engineering and state-of-the-art research within the Volvo Group. At the Electromobility System Complete department, we are responsible for developing system solutions and balancing strategies for the complete Electric Propulsion Systems to be realized by hardware and software solutions.
Your responsibilities will include requirement specifications, collecting and breakdown of requirements. Working together with technology teams and system teams to define the system design to meet the requirements. Balancing of the technical solution and support for verification. Involving in the technical decisions towards projects and design engineers, making sure that we continuously improve quality.
Who are you?
We believe that to be successful in this position, you are a pragmatic team player who loves to develop system designs with the customer in focus. Managing the balance between securing a long-term platform and pragmatically solving the project needs. It is important that you are flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment. You have a broad knowledge and experience in Electric Powertrains both HW and SW domains and especially linked to control strategies for complex systems. Confident in leading system solutions towards product teams. We also believe that you feel comfortable owning and taking responsibility for your system and do so with a great attitude.
Relevant Experience
· Minimum 6 years of product development experience (preferably automotive, aerospace) whereof at least 3 years within Electric Propulsion Systems design work.
· Ability to find solutions across domains on complicated topics.
· Experience in the development of High Voltage Systems, Low Voltage Systems, Charging, Motor Control Systems, Power Electronics Systems, and DCDC Systems is a merit.
· Experience in defining and balancing requirements between stakeholders and technical solutions.
· Experience in working with Requirement documentation tools like System Weaver, IBM DOORS, and Rhapsody is a merit.
· Experience in working with the System, Software, and Verification team is a merit.
· Masters degree in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
