The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting cutting-edge research and data analysis related to Artemia using genomic and bioinformatics tools. The major task of the candidate is to conduct mining of Artemia genes associated with stress and immunity and also to develop OMICS toolbox for positioning Artemia as a model organism for biological research. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the understanding of Artemia biology and its applications in the aquaculture field. Duties: The selected candidate is expected to: • Expected to take the main responsibility for report writing and for scientific publication. • Conduct comprehensive genomic analysis of Artemia species, that includes genome sequencing, assembly, annotation, and comparative genomics. • Utilize advanced bioinformatics tools and algorithms to analyze genomic data, identify genetic variations, perform gene expression profiling, and predict functional elements in Artemia. • Collect, curate, and integrate diverse biological datasets to enhance the understanding of Artemia genetics and genomics. Employ statistical methods to analyze large-scale datasets and derive meaningful biological insights. • Design and implement research projects aimed at elucidating specific aspects of Artemia genomics and biology. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including molecular biologists, geneticists, and computational biologists, to integrate experimental and computational approaches in Artemia research. • Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences and meetings. Eligibility Interested and eligible candidates must have PhD degree in applied biological sciences, preferably with a focus on Artemia genomics and bioinformatics. Demonstrated experience in genomic data analysis, bioinformatics, and next-generation sequencing technologies. Experience with Artemia or other crustacean species is a strong prerequisite. The candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English and have experience in effectively communicating research findings within and outside of academia. Previous peer-reviewed scientific publications especially on Artemia biology are highly desirable. Application deadline: 2024-10-21 Your application should include: i) Summary of research experience indicating the fulfillment of qualifications required for the position ii) Curriculum Vitae including complete publication list clearly indicating peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed publications iii) contact information for two reference persons.
