Role Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Oracle ETL/BI Developer for a consulting assignment focused on developing and optimizing complex data integration and business intelligence solutions. The role requires deep expertise in Oracle Database architecture, advanced SQL development, custom-built ETL processes, and dimensional data modelling. The consultant will translate high-level business requirements into functional, maintainable, and high-performing data solutions within a complex enterprise IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, model, develop, and test complex ETL processes using custom-built code rather than dedicated ETL platforms.
• Translate high-level or simplified business requirements into robust, maintainable technical implementations.
• Develop advanced Oracle SQL using capabilities such as analytic functions and hierarchical queries.
• Optimize Oracle Database performance through indexing, partitioning, query tuning, and related optimization techniques.
• Create and maintain dimensional data models supporting business intelligence and analytical use cases.
• Work effectively within a complex enterprise technology landscape, potentially involving subscription-based business models.
• Use Git to manage source code and support controlled development workflows.
• Contribute to development and operational activities in Unix/Linux-based environments.

Technical Stack & Requirements

• Database: Extensive knowledge of Oracle Database architecture, functionality, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
• Query development: Strong proficiency in Oracle SQL, including analytic functions and hierarchical queries.
• Data integration: Proven ability to design, implement, and test complex custom-coded ETL processes.
• Data modelling: Experience with dimensional data modelling for BI and analytics solutions.
• Oracle ecosystem: Knowledge of Oracle REST Data Services and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Workflow orchestration: Knowledge of Apache Airflow.
• Operating systems: Basic experience working in Unix/Linux-based environments.
• Version control: Practical experience using Git.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful consultant will have senior-level experience in Oracle-based ETL and BI development, supported by strong business analysis capabilities. Previous work in subscription-based industries with complex IT environments—such as telecommunications, banking, or insurance—is required. The role calls for the ability to understand business needs, refine incomplete or high-level requirements, and convert them into reliable and maintainable data solutions.
