About the position

We at Perido are now looking for a Mechanical and Piping Engineer to our client, a Swedish industrial company developing large-scale production of green iron and steel using green hydrogen and renewable energy, with the aim of significantly reducing the steel industry’s carbon emissions. As mechanical piping engineer, you will report to the Engineering Lead, but you will also participate in the cross-functional delivery teams. The position is based in Stockholm, with the flexibility to work 50% from home.

Your daily tasks

The Mechanical & Piping engineer is responsible for overseeing the mechanical piping design work for one of the areas (Steel Mill, Iron Reduction, Hydrogen Plant, Balance of Plant and Ground Works) in a project. You will be responsible for ensuring the coordination of the engineering partners to reach cost and time-efficient design solutions for all Mechanical & Piping work related to your area.

Key responsibilities:

• Take ownership of Mechanical & Piping engineering and design
• Provide guidance on engineering and design strategies, concepts and solutions
• Ensure that engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulations, equipment specifications and process equipment operating targets
• Drive quality assurance and continuous performance improvement throughout the organization
• Manage and oversee the engineering work delivered by EPCM and OEM partners, ensuring that they have the information and feedback required to deliver safely, on time and within budget
• Represent the company as the single point of contact for the Mechanical & Piping discipline, with responsibility for delivery and quality
• Develop and select engineering and design standards and procedures to ensure consistent quality and compliance with requirements

Your characteristics

You have excellent management, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in complex, cross-functional environments involving multiple teams and sometimes competing priorities. You communicate confidently in English, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders, and are comfortable working in a dynamic environment where processes and procedures may not always be clearly defined.

Qualifications:

• Previous working experience in major industrial capital projects
• Highly developed knowledge of industrial scale piping and/or mechanical static/rotating installations
• Previous project experience within Scandinavian codes and standards
• Experience with PED
• Experience in project planning, execution (including construction realities), management, and communication with all stakeholders in large successful capital projects
• Experience in working with EPCM Mechanical engineers
• Must be knowledgeable about industry best practices and change management
• Recent experience in engineering and construction activities in large capital projects
• Experience managing engineering partners or third parties
• Fluent in English

Contract type and hours

Full-time consulting assignment until 2027-06-30. Start 2026-10-27.
