Are you passionate about creating meaningful and memorable academic ceremonies? The Stockholm School of Economics is seeking an exceptionally detail-oriented and service-minded Project Manager to lead and develop SSE’s academic ceremonies and official visits. In this role, you will help shape some of SSE's most important traditions and represent SSE at key moments for students, faculty, alumni, donors, and distinguished guests.

We offer a central and independent role within the Stakeholder Events team, with significant responsibility and visibility across SSE. You will collaborate closely with students, faculty, the President's Office, Communications, and external partners. Your stakeholders will include distinguished academics, Nobel laureates, leaders from various business communities, the diplomatic corps, donors and benefactors and international visitors and guests.

About the role

In this role, you will:

• Serve as SSE's institutional expert and owner of academic ceremonies, traditions, and protocol, ensuring that the school’s ceremonial practices are maintained, developed, and delivered in a manner that reflects its values, heritage, and international standing.
• Plan and execute SSE's annual academic ceremonies, including Bachelor's, Master's, MBA Graduation ceremonies as well as the Installation & Conferment ceremony.
• Manage official visits, selected conferences and other stakeholder events.
• Develop and continuously improve processes, routines, and documentation related to ceremonies and official visits.
• Collaborate with the Communications team to strengthen awareness of the role and value of academic ceremonies and institutional traditions.
• Lead project teams, student cohorts, and external suppliers to ensure seamless delivery.
• Serve as SSE’s representative in relevant academic networks.

The position involves working some evenings and occasional weekends.

Experience

Required:

• Strong understanding of academic institutions, governance structures, traditions, and stakeholder environments.
• Experience managing complex projects involving senior stakeholders and multiple internal and external partners.

Meritorious:

• Experience of working in an international context.
• An academic degree.
• Project management courses.
• Service related courses.

• Excellent communication skills with fluency in Swedish and English.
• A service-oriented, diplomatic approach and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Maintain and manage sound judgment, discretion, and confidence when working with a variety of leaders, as well as distinguished guests, and formal ceremonial protocols.  
• Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
• The ability to lead, coordinate, and delegate work to teams, suppliers, and other event partners while taking ownership of projects from planning through execution and evaluation.
• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, remaining calm under pressure and comfortable taking initiative.
• Curiosity and a drive to continuously improve processes and embrace new technologies and systems.
• Good understanding of budgeting and resource management.
• A genuine passion for creating meaningful experiences and representing SSE with professionalism and high standards of quality.
