Job description: Let's introduce ourselvesAt Workplace Experience Design, you are part of a multidisciplinary team of six people with the vision to improve the working environment for Volvo Cars employees globally. Workplace Experience Design is a strategic function responsible for the development of corporate environments, workplace concepts, office footprint strategy, ways of working, workplace analytics and master planning. We work across disciplines and regions globally to create environments that support Volvo Cars’ culture, business needs, and future ambitions. What you'll doThis is not a traditional architecture role. We are looking for an experienced architect who can move comfortably between strategy and execution, concept development and delivery, long-term planning and operational reality. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating business needs into workplace solutions that support employee experience, organisational performance, and efficient use of resources. You will work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and help shape how Volvo Cars workplaces evolve over time. This includes workplace concepts, project development, workplace standards, strategic studies, design reviews, and long-term master planning activities. You will be expected to challenge assumptions, simplify complexity, and drive projects forward with resilience, curiosity, and an all-in mindset.
• Lead workplace architecture and interior projects from concept through implementation• Translate business needs into workplace strategies, concepts, and design solutions• Develop workplace concepts, standards, and design guidelines• Support and contribute to long-term site and campus master planning activities• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, workshops, interviews, and user research• Communicate design solutions and recommendations to non-design stakeholders• Drive value engineering and ensure investments create maximum business value• Support workplace analytics, occupancy studies, and organisational change initiatives• Coordinate and manage external consultants, architects, and suppliers• Contribute to sustainability, accessibility, and future workplace development
What you'll bringYou are an architect with strong design capability, but equally strong business understanding. You are curious by nature and enjoy understanding how people, organisations, and environments interact. You are comfortable working in ambiguity and can create clarity and direction in complex situations. You are confident engaging with senior stakeholders and can communicate ideas in a way that builds understanding, trust, and alignment. You combine strategic thinking with a practical delivery mindset and are willing to move between high-level planning and detailed project work as required.
Qualifications and Experience• Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture• Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience• Experience leading complex workplace or commercial projects• Experience working directly with stakeholders and business leaders• Strong understanding of workplace strategy, employee experience, and organisational change• Experience with workplace concepts, office planning, and workplace transformation initiatives• Experience managing consultants and multidisciplinary project teams• Strong communication and presentation skills• Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and presentation software
