We offer the opportunity to join the Software unit within SSC Connect, which is entrusted to develop and maintain critical systems required to connect our customers with their satellites.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will support and guide 2-3 software engineering teams to keep them motivated, well-staffed, and aligned with our company goals. You’ll provide leadership, encouragement, and direction to the teams, ensuring that their work aligns with business objectives. At the same time, you’ll help maintain high technical standards and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

You will be reporting to the Global Software Engineering Manager and be part of a leadership team together with other Software Engineering managers, Product owners and Architects.

REQUIREMENTS

We believe you are an experienced leader with a strong background in engineering and a natural ability to motivate and inspire teams. Dedicated to building a team culture of teamwork and creativity, you lead by example and create an environment where team members feel supported and valued.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a proven track record in recruiting, onboarding, and nurturing engineering talent, with experience in team development and mentorship
• Is well-versed in Agile methodologies and can support teams in adopting best practices and refining their workflows
• Brings a background in software development, with strong technical expertise
• Understands the importance of quality standards and regulatory requirements

We also believe you have:

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineering Manager
• 3+ years of experience as a Software Developer
• Master’s or PhD in a technical field, or equivalent professional experience

Additional requirements

This position requires a European citizenship and occasional travelling within and outside Sweden.

This position requires a background control and security interview before employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Examples of responsibilities:

• Recruiting and onboarding new engineering talent and supporting their integration into the team. Providing training, coaching, and mentorship to help team members develop their skills and advance in their careers.
• Fostering a positive team culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, and trust, creating an environment where team members feel empowered and motivated.
• Supporting and coaching teams in Agile methodologies, helping them to adopt best practices and continually improve their workflows.
• Providing technical guidance and expertise to the engineering teams. This involves staying up to date with industry trends and best practices, as well as reviewing technical designs and solutions.
• Ensuring that engineering deliverables meet quality standards and regulatory requirements and implement quality assurance processes and procedures as needed.
• Handling escalations and critical incidents effectively, providing leadership and support to the engineering team to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to operations.
• Contributing to strategic planning initiatives, providing insights and recommendations on technology trends, market opportunities, and product innovation to support business growth and competitiveness.

LOCATION

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our office in either Solna or Kiruna.
