Are you an epidemiology, medicine, or infectious disease student/graduate looking for invaluable, hands-on experience in a global health emergency?
On behalf of our client, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Randstad Life Science is now looking for a Junior Expert for an urgent, short-term consultancy assignment. This is a unique opportunity to support the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) in relation to Ebola monitoring over the summer.
About the Role (Consultancy)
This is a 3-month interim consultancy position. Due to the urgent nature of the project, you must be available to start immediately (ASAP) and currently be living in Sweden.
As a Junior Expert, you will contribute to ECDC’s epidemic intelligence and support the technical response to the Ebola outbreaks in the DRC and Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support in delivering technical guidance and epidemiological monitoring for Ebola outbreaks.
- Conduct desk-based research, draft scientific guidance, risk assessments, and related documentation.
- Support epidemic intelligence activities and prepare responses to ad hoc requests from stakeholders.
- Join liaison calls with ECDC staff deployed in Africa.
- Support the organization and execution of coordination calls with Africa CDC, EU Delegations, and other partners.
Your Profile:
- Education/Expertise: Demonstrated academic background or expertise in infectious diseases, epidemiology, and/or medicine. (Perfect match for a master/PhD student looking for summer experience).
- Skills: Excellent analytical skills, with a strong preference for knowledge in R.
- Tools: Very good MS Office skills.
- Communication: Excellent spoken and written English.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work efficiently under tight timelines and collaborate with international partners.
- Experience with outbreak response or infection prevention/control is considered an asset.
