Are you eager to shape the future of groundwater management and sustainable infrastructure? Join us at Chalmers to develop advanced decision-support tools that help society make smarter, data-driven decisions about vital water resources.
About us
https://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/ace/ tackles contemporary and emerging challenges for the built and natural environment, ranging from resource utilisation, pollution and climate change to digitalisation and inequality. We combine expertise in architecture, civil engineering and related disciplines to build a better world.
The research and education within the https://www.chalmers.se/en/departments/ace/research/engineering-geology/ focus on groundwater flow, drinking water supply, remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater, underground infrastructure construction, and subsurface planning.
About the research project
This project will enhance decision support for groundwater managers responsible for monitoring, developing, and protecting groundwater resources. You will study the information needs of these decision-makers in contexts such as environmental impacts of transportation infrastructure projects and drinking water supply. By integrating multi-fidelity geospatial and operational data with numerical modelling and data-driven approaches—such as statistical learning, AI, and value-of-information analysis—you will design the next generation of decision-support tools. The project aims to enable better-informed decisions that maximise societal and environmental benefits in groundwater management.
