Production Process Development Engineer within Printing & Coating

Are you an experienced engineer within printing, coating, or advanced manufacturing processes who wants to play a central role in industrializing next-generation solar cell technology? At Epishine, you will have the opportunity to shape and develop scalable production processes in a company transitioning to industrial manufacturing organization. This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic process development with hands-on implementation in a technically advanced and fast-growing environment.

About Epishine

Epishine is a Swedish energy impact company, reimagining the capture of light with market leading printed organic solar cells. Our technology captures indoor light to make electronics self-powered, making cables, disposable batteries and unnecessary maintenance a thing of the past. At Epishine, we foster a culture of collaboration, creativity and innovation where we encourage our employees to challenge the status quo and drive innovation. Our company is now growing and we are looking for more driven talents who want to grow and develop together with us!

The mission

As Production Process Development Engineer within Printing & Coating, you will take overarching responsibility for the development and industrialization of Epishine’s wet-process manufacturing processes.

The role focuses on bridging the gap between development and industrial production by ensuring that new concepts, materials, and process improvements can operate reliably and sustainably in production environments.

You will work closely with R&D, production engineering, and Operations while driving process improvements related to yield, quality, scalability, and production capacity. This is a role where strategic process ownership meets practical execution.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking overall responsibility for development projects within Printing & Coating as they transition toward production implementation
  • Driving process development related to printing, coating, drying, and material deposition
  • Leading commissioning and ramp-up of new printing and coating equipment
  • Supporting production engineers during implementation and industrialization activities
  • Improving yield, process stability, and production capacity
  • Developing maintenance concepts and long-term process improvements
  • Driving process changes from concept through implementation and follow-up
  • Defining KPIs, process controls, and monitoring strategies
  • Acting as a technical bridge between R&D, Production Engineering, and Operations
  • Ensuring robust and scalable production processes for long-term industrial manufacturing

For the right candidate with strong leadership capabilities, there is also the possibility to take broader leadership responsibility within the group over time.

Who are we looking for?

We believe you are a senior engineer with strong process understanding and a passion for industrialization and production development. You are comfortable balancing technical detail with operational and business-oriented perspectives. We believe you bring:

  • A Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Extensive experience in production process development and industrialization
  • Experience transferring development projects into production
  • Proven experience driving long-term process improvements and scaling activities
  • Experience from process industry, manufacturing, or production-oriented R&D environments
  • Experience in roll-to-roll printing and/or coating of functional materials. Flat bed screen printing, slot die meniscus coating, gravure printing or flexo printing experience are extra meriting
  • Strong project- and self-leadership skills

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and collaborative with a strong ability to create progress in technically complex environments. You are hands-on, solution-oriented, and comfortable working close to both machinery and people across multiple functions.

Do you feel like you do not tick all of the above boxes? Apply anyway, and we will assess if you fit into our team, either now or in the future!
