Are you a passionate Scientist with expertise in synthetic chemistry and a strong interest in the development of oligonucleotide therapeutics? We are now looking for a Senior Research Scientist to join a highly innovative and research-driven global pharmaceutical company in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is a 12-month consulting assignment with employment through Poolia, starting in August.

About the position

As Senior Research Scientist, you will join a growing Oligonucleotide Chemistry team within a dynamic R&D environment focused on advancing next-generation oligonucleotide therapeutics. The team works in close collaboration with experts across Discovery Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, DMPK, Safety and Pharmaceutical Sciences to drive drug discovery projects forward. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in synthetic organic chemistry to support the development of innovative therapeutics across multiple disease areas. You will work in a collaborative scientific environment where innovation, high-quality research and knowledge-sharing are highly valued.

Reponsibilities

In this role, you will act as a synthesis specialist with focus on the development of oligonucleotide-based drug candidates. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing, planning and executing synthetic chemistry experiments independently - Synthesizing and purifying high-quality oligonucleotides, building blocks and advanced organic molecules - Applying modern synthetic, purification and analytical techniques to support project progression - Developing new building blocks, linkers and methodologies within the oligonucleotide field - Troubleshooting synthetic challenges and contributing to scientific problem-solving - Collaborating closely with cross-functional project teams to ensure timely delivery of project goals - Supporting and mentoring junior scientists when needed - Contributing to a strong scientific culture with high standards and collaborative ways of working

Your profile

We are looking for someone with a strong scientific mindset, excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for driving research forward. To succeed in the role, you should have: - PhD in Organic Chemistry; postdoctoral experience is considered an advantage - Strong expertise in synthetic chemistry related to oligonucleotides, peptide chemistry and/or advanced organic synthesis - Experience working with oligonucleotide therapeutics, design and data analysis is highly meritorious - Ability to independently design, execute and analyze experiments - Proven scientific impact through publications and/or presentations - Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken As a person, you are collaborative, proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

About the Organisation

You will be employed as a consultant by Poolia and work on assignment at a leading international, research-driven pharmaceutical company with a strong focus on innovation and drug discovery. The assignment is full-time, starts in August and runs for 12 months initially.
