Cytiva is seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team in Uppsala. In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, hardware, and bioprocessing applications, contributing to advanced systems that support our customers in the biopharmaceutical industry.

In this role, you will take a system‑level perspective on the development, verification, and lifecycle support of complex products within our UNICORN software ecosystem and ÄKTA platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure solutions that are robust, scalable, and fit for use in regulated environments.

This onsite position is part of the System Engineering R&D department located at our Uppsala site.

What you'll do:

• Contribute to software development from a user and system perspective, ensuring strong alignment with customer needs.
• Drive delivery of new software functionality and products within the UNICORN software ecosystem.
• Identify, define, and document user and system requirements.
• Define and author verification strategies and test procedures.
• Plan, execute, and coordinate system‑level testing and verification across functions.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, UX designers, and test engineers.
• Actively participate in development planning and deliver on team commitments.

Who you are:

• A Master’s degree in Life Science or Engineering, such as Biochemistry, Molecular Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Several years of hands‑on experience working with chromatography and/or filtration processes.
• Experience from industrial or academic life‑science environments, preferably within product or system development.
• Proven experience working cross‑functionally in multidisciplinary R&D teams
• Both Swedish and English as working languages.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Experience with UNICORN software development.
• Hands‑on experience with ÄKTA laboratory systems or large‑scale ÄKTA equipment.
