Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom. It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.

We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas. Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.

Job Description

The Piping Team Leader is responsible for supervising and coordinating all piping installation and maintenance activities on site. This role involves leading a team of piping fitters and related personnel to ensure piping systems are installed, assembled, and maintained according to engineering drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The Piping Team Leader ensures work is completed efficiently, safely, and within project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead and supervise piping crews, including piping fitters and support personnel, during installation and maintenance activities.

· Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, piping isometrics, and technical specifications.

· Plan, organize, and assign daily work activities to ensure project schedules and deadlines are met.

· Oversee installation, alignment, and assembly of piping systems, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.

· Ensure proper pipe routing, supports, fittings, and installation methods in accordance with engineering requirements.

· Monitor work progress and ensure high standards of quality and workmanship.

· Coordinate with welding teams, mechanical crews, engineers, and supervisors to ensure smooth project execution.

· Conduct routine inspections of piping installations and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

· Ensure all work activities comply with company safety policies, site safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

· Identify and resolve technical or installation issues that arise during project execution.

· Maintain records of work progress, manpower utilization, and materials usage.

· Provide technical guidance, training, and support to piping crew members when necessary.

Qualifications

· Experience in piping installation and maintenance in industrial, construction, or plant environments is preferred.

· Experience as a Piping Fitter or similar role, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

· Strong ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometric drawings, and technical documentation.

· Knowledge of piping materials, fittings, valves, installation techniques, and industry standards.

· Understanding of safety procedures and construction site practices.
