Are you an engaged leader who would love to provide smart R&D-methods enabling the future of farming? Do you want to improve product quality, speed up time-to-market, and raise engineering efficiency across a global organization? If so, this could be your next challenge.
About the Role
As Head of R&D Lifecycle Agriculture, you will lead the newly established R&D Lifecycle function for JOST’s Business Line Agriculture. The department consolidates four key areas — Testing, PLM & CAE, Technical Documentation, and Global Access & Compliance — and drives standardization, reuse of proven solutions, and continuous improvement across our R&D operations. You will report to the Head of R&D Agriculture & Central Mechatronics.
The role is located in Brännland just outside of Umeå, and you will have the possibility to work 2 days per week from home.
Your Responsibilities
· Lead and build the R&D Lifecycle team — currently 7 FTE locally, with 1–2 FTE at other sites expected to report functionally in the near future.
· Testing (V&V, excl. software): Own methods and frameworks for Validation & Verification (V&V) excluding software, ensure robust planning, and oversee execution and reporting to secure quality.
· PLM & CAE: Ensure, together with domain experts, that R&D has the right methods and toolchain to develop efficiently and to manage product data and lifecycle effectively.
· Technical Documentation: Deliver technical documentation such as user-manuals and spare parts structure management.
· Global Access & Compliance: Ensure products meet applicable regulations (e.g., Machinery Directive, CE-marking).
· Own selected shared processes, methods and tools across BL Agriculture and also work to continuously improve the methodology and ensure compliance for above areas. Act as functional lead for these areas across all R&D Ag sites and represent BL Ag R&D in the JOST Product Development Process.
· Plan and manage budgets for department operations, including software licenses and physical test lab resources; maintain a safe working environment, particularly around rig and tractor testing.
· Collaborate closely with R&D design and integration teams so they can focus on core design and innovation, while your team drives lifecycle excellence.
Your Profile
We’re looking for an engaged leader who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on, collaborative approach and strong communication skills. You enjoy representing your team internally and externally and can navigate technical discussions confidently. It would be meritorius if you have experience of working with patents.
We believe you have:
· A university degree in Engineering.
· Leadership experience in an R&D environment (machinery, automotive, or similar industry is a plus).
· Understanding of V&V processes, PLM/CAD, technical documentation, and relevant machinery regulations (incl. CE-marking).
· A track record of driving continuous improvement and standardizing shared engineering processes.
· Fluency in Swedish and English, spoken and written.
