SECONDARY SWEDISH MYP LANGUAGE A TEACHER - Language and Literature

Reports to: Middle School Principal

Job Description

Teacher for Swedish Language and Literature for Middle Years Programme, grades 6 - 9. This is a Permanent part-time position (60 to 65 percent).

Duties/Responsibilities:

A teacher is responsible for the preparation, instruction and follow up involved in teaching the

designated curricula.

A teacher also has the following duties and areas of responsibility:

  • The academic, personal and social welfare of students
  • Assessing learning and grading all students in relation to the curricula
  • Collaborate with Language B Teachers on placement tests and transition policies.
  • Informing parents with regard to academic and social questions
  • Actively participating in Parent/ Teacher/Student conferences
  • Comfortable with the use of technology in the classroom, for example the use of ManageBac, Google Classroom, Seesaw, etc
  • Ensuring that student attendance is checked and recorded in accordance with the security regulations of the school
  • Attending and taking part in planned meetings set by the school and or leadership.
  • Attending other meetings called with 2 weeks’ notice
  • Being an advisor/mentor for projects e.g. Personal Project (MYP)
  • Learning and Incorporating Positive Discipline practices both in and out of the classroom
  • Serving as Homeroom teacher, or Advisory teacher* when appointed/elected
  • Acting as leaders for Sport/outdoor events during directed working time
  • Being available for school trips or learning outside of school
  • Actively contributing to teams, committees and task forces
  • Contributing to the development, documentation and implementation of curriculum
  • Participating in Professional Development
  • Upholding the Child Protection measures implemented at school


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Be familiar with IBMYP curricula or and equivalent international curricula
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Swedish
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to establish rapport with adults and students
  • Be able to work effectively in a team
  • Be able to function effectively under pressure
  • Perform their duties conscientiously
  • Be able to show initiative and work independently
  • Have a pleasant and friendly personality
  • Preferred qualification to teach other disciplines

Contract: Part Time (60% to 65%) Permanent Contract (with a 6-months probationary period)
