We are looking for a Software Release Leader for a global company in Gothenburg. Start is in April, 9-month limited contract to begin with.

Description:

An experienced Software Release Leader is being sought with strong leadership and coordination skills. To succeed in this role, experience in automotive software release and associated documentation in a larger context is required. The position suits someone who enjoys coaching, leading, and empowering people while demonstrating leadership with an agile mindset.

About:

The organization is one of three development units within Engineering. The scope includes development of interior, body & exterior, chassis, and climate solutions and systems. The position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, with teams located in both Gothenburg and Shanghai.

Software Factory & Release is an enabling section focused on building software and continuous integration flow within the engineering unit. The section provides capabilities within software testing, HIL rigs, software integration, and software release flow.

What’s in it for you:

As a Software Release Leader, the role plays a central part in planning, coordinating, and communicating software release activities across multiple vehicle programs. Responsibilities include ensuring required testing is executed and that all changes align with agreed product content and associated risks. The position offers the opportunity to build a broad cross-functional network within the Engineering organization.

In this role, responsibilities include:

• Leading and driving the release of software and related documentation across vehicle programs.

• Planning, communicating, and executing the Software Plan to secure timely and successful milestones for release events.

• Representing the unit in cross-functional forums and acting as the main interface toward Release Leaders within the Software Engineering Office.

• Collaborating closely with Software Integration Leaders to prepare functional content and documentation for software release branches.

• Safeguarding release content through strong understanding of software plans and processes, ensuring correct documentation and configuration integrity.

• Monitoring and managing fault reports affecting the release branch and actively supporting their resolution.

• Guiding software teams on the release plan, merge requests, test needs, and delivery scheduling.

• Using professional networks and influence to resolve blockers and secure alignment across teams.

• Working closely with integration and release leaders, as well as the Unit Test Leader, to create and execute release-focused test plans.

• Tracking test outcomes and providing the Unit Program Manager with up-to-date software release status for program reporting.

Required background includes:

• Solid experience working with software integration and release processes.

• An engineering background — university degree or equivalent professional experience in Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

• Documented leadership skills and the ability to lead through influence and collaboration.

• Experience in automotive software engineering and release documentation.

• Knowledge of product development processes is an advantage.

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

This is a full-time consultant position in Gothenburg through Incluso. Start is in April, 9-month limited contract to begin with, with possibility of extension after that. This role is 100% onsite in Gothenburg.
