Gemkom Engineering and Machinery Filial is a newly established branch of the Turkish company Gemkom.
It is a leading engineering and manufacturing company that operates in a number of areas and in various ways within the steel industry.
We are participating in a project where Stegra AB establishes a steel mill in Norra Svartbyn in Boden where steel will be produced through an almost fossil-free process using hydrogen gas.
Our mission is, among other things, to install machines used in steel production and includes work in mechanics, electronics and plumbing.
We now want to employ a Vice General Manager.

Job Description
- Support the General Manager in the overall management of company operations, projects, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee and coordinate contractual, commercial, and operational aspects of projects to ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Lead or supervise contract management activities, including review, negotiation, implementation, and dispute resolution for customer, supplier, and subcontractor agreements.
- Assist in developing and monitoring project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments, in cooperation with technical and project teams.
- Monitor operational performance and compliance with contractual obligations, reporting risks and improvement opportunities to the General Manager.
- Coordinate department managers and site teams to ensure effective communication and timely execution of project activities.
- Support cost control and budget optimization efforts, particularly from a commercial and contractual perspective.
- Participate in negotiations with customers, suppliers, financiers, and partners, representing the company’s legal and commercial interests.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, corporate policies, and governance standards across all operations.
- Act on behalf of the General Manager when required, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, risk mitigation, contractual performance, and organizational effectiveness.
Desirable qualifications (not mandatory)
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Prior professional experience in senior management, project-based organizations, heavy industry, steel sector, or large-scale industrial operations.
For Law graduates: proven experience in commercial law, contract management, project contracts, or corporate governance, preferably within construction, energy, or steel-related projects.
- Solid understanding of project execution, risk management, compliance, and stakeholder coordination.
- Proven ability to support executive leadership in strategic planning, operational oversight, and decision-making.
- Fluency in English; additional languages—particularly Turkish—is an asset but not required.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing customer and supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and commercial discussions.
