Are you that one solid leader who is enthusiastic about translating product and technology vision into practical, scalable, and sustainable solutions? This role combines architectural leadership with hands-on technical expertise across application design, databases, DevOps, and emerging technologies such as AI.
Paliscope is on a mission to help investigators solve cases faster and with greater precision. Our solutions simplify the analysis of complex multisource data, empowering law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and analysts to uncover insights and bring justice to those who need it most.
As we continue to scale, we’re strengthening our CTO Office with a System Architect who will play an instrumental role in establishing a high-performing CTO Office that ensures our technology foundation, infrastructure, and practices are optimized for growth, performance, and innovation. This is a rare opportunity to influence not just what we build, but how we build it.
What you will do
As a key partner to the CTO, you will help shape and execute our technology roadmap, driving the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to support long-term strategic decisions. You will own and refine architectural standards, guiding alignment through review boards and contributing to proofs of concept and other innovation initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Architecture and System Design
• Lead the design, documentation, and evolution of system and application architecture.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and high-performing.
• Align architectural decisions with product and business goals.
• Evaluate and introduce new architectural patterns and frameworks.
• Remain hands-on when needed to validate approaches or build proofs of concept.
Database & Data Management
• Oversee database design, optimization, and performance.
• Define standards for data integrity, consistency, and security.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve data modelling and storage solutions across applications.
• Support compliance with data privacy and protection requirements.
DevOps and Infrastructure
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Contribute to system reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Define DevOps best practices and guide infrastructure and deployment decisions.
You will report to CTO and will be part of the CTO Office management team. Located at our central and modern site in Gothenburg you will have an encouraging environment with cross-functional collaboration close at hand.
What we are looking for
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 5 years in a System or Solution Architecture role. Experience across multiple organizational environments is a plus.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language and comfort working with modern, broad technology stacks. Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Elastic is strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of architecture and system design principles including scalability, reliability, modularity, performance, and security.
• Experience designing microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures, as well as familiarity with architectural frameworks and modeling practices.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience with on-premises software solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (Engineering, DevOps, Security, Product, Leadership).
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical design reviews, guide architectural governance, and provide technical leadership across teams.
We are looking for a systems thinker with the ability to zoom in and out, comfortable designing at a high level, but equally ready to dive into detailed coding when needed. You enjoy partnering with others, influencing technical direction, and exploring new technologies with curiosity and pragmatism.
If you are an inspirational leader with passion for designing the technical foundation for advanced software products that truly make an impact, you might be the one!
