Do you want to be part of the software development team at EISCAT?
EISCAT AB is a newly established Swedish state-owned company with internationally recognised operations. The organisation dates back to 1975 and has a strong research profile, offering the opportunity to study the atmosphere and ionosphere in the polar regions using its high-power incoherent scatter radars. EISCAT contributes towards new insights and research findings regarding the Sun’s impact on Earth, solar storms, space debris, satellites, and much more.
EISCAT AB is recruiting one or more software engineers to develop system software for its state-of-the-art EISCAT_3D radar. The system is now entering its commissioning phase, and we are looking to expand the software team. EISCAT_3D is made up of thousands of hardware devices, both custom and off-the-shelf, which are network controlled. The system will issue millions of commands per second and will generate terabits per second of data, so the performance of the system software will be key.
We are primarily looking for candidates with a background in system software who would like to work on hardware integration and the development of the control system itself. Candidates with a background in signal processing, data analysis and visualisation, and HPC systems are also encouraged to apply. We are a small team, so a willingness to work on any part of the system is expected and roles will change as the system develops.
EISCAT_3D is expected to be in operation for decades, so we are looking for candidates with a long-term view and an interest in radar or software-defined radio (SDR) technology.
