Let's introduce ourselves Occupant Safety Department is a part of the Interior within Engineering and Operations. The interior department is responsible for the whole process of designing and developing interior systems. Occupant Safety is responsible for development of all interior safety systems and consists of the development areas: Seatbelt & Child Safety Systems, Airbags and Steering wheel. What you'll do? As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will have the ownership of the seat belt system from cradle to grave making sure that time, technology and cost are held and kept within the agreed framework as well as secure quality assured deliveries. You will have a global ownership for the product and work with colleagues around the world. You will establish and develop relationships with representatives from many areas within the company, especially Safety, meaning that you will build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Cars. You will: • Lead the development of the seat belt system in cooperation with suppliers and Volvo internal stakeholders. • Work in close collaboration with stakeholders: Safety, Ergonomic and Durability centres, and participate in attribute verifications. • Be responsible for creating product development time plans which meet the overall project plan. • Lead supplier meetings and secure requirement fulfilment from our suppliers. • Be responsible for the technical aspects, timing, and cost of the project. • Report the product development status to the leaders. • Be responsible for setting requirements for the system and components, and verifying these requirements during the industrialization phase of the project. What you'll bring? We believe you have experience working with product development preferably within safety restraint products. In this position it is beneficial with the ability of a structured way of working and to deliver results in time. You have an open mind-set with a positive attitude, and you are good at finding opportunities and look for solutions. You like to share knowledge and experience with your colleagues. We believe you have: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering. • A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development. • Experience in Seat Belt Test Methods and Certification, which is one major competence in this position. • Proficient in English, both written and spoken. • Driver’s license (Category B). It's good if you have good knowledge in different Volvo systems (e.g. Team Center, Pecca Procost, PCT, planisware, VPC, KDP, POB, TSU, XFMEA, Car Weaver etc.).
