Department of Forest Resource Management The Department of Forest Resource Management conducts teaching and research in the areas of Forest Remote Sensing, Mathematical Statistics Applied to Forest Sciences, Forest Inventory and Sampling, Forest Planning and Landscape Studies. The Department is also responsible for several environmental monitoring and assessment programs. The Division of Forest Remote Sensing works with developments of remote sensing methods for estimation of forest resources using several kinds of sensor data, for example multi-spectral cameras, laser scanners, and radar sensors. About the position We are seeking a Project Officer to work full-time for the administration of Horizon Europe projects, with duties related to FORWARDS and NextGenCarbon projects. These are large international consortia, 19 European institutions in FORWARDS and 22 in NextGenCarbon, and the Project Officer will be responsible for the timely preparation of typical deliverables in relation to management of Horizon Europe projects. Duties will also involve tasks related to the management of these consortia, including project communication, both internal and external, such as the organisation or events and meetings, compilation of newsletters, policy briefs, etc. The selected Project Officer will be involved in tasks related to proposal preparation of new projects as well. Applications are invited from experienced administrators for the Project Officer position. The post holder will provide administrative support and assistance to the management of Horizon Europe projects, managing project administration through all stages of the research project life cycle, including overseeing timelines for milestones and deliverables, monitoring of the budgets and processing of financial information, preparation of consortium agreements and assistance with duties related to raising further funding. Duties also include assistance in preparing project communication and reporting, communications for the research team and other stakeholders, including organising meetings and taking minutes. Duties will also include the development of a visual identity for NextGenCarbon, and development and maintenance of a website and social media channels. Project communication is carried out entirely in an international context, and for that reason the post holder should be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate high proficiency in written communication in English. You should also be highly organised with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your profile To be qualified for this position you need a university degree relevant to the position: project management, international relations, communication or business administration. You also need to be familiar with one or many of the disciplines that relate to the post: Earth system science, remote sensing, forestry, and/or natural sciences. You need to have professional experience in managing EU research or innovation programme projects, and have good knowledge of the policies and requirements of the Horizon Europe programme (through experience in project and/or proposal development for Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, FP7, or earlier EU framework programmes). You need to demonstrate proficiency in the use of English language, oral through your performance at the interview, and also written by submitting along with your application earlier works personally developed in English language in relation to the management of your previous projects and/or consortia or networks. You need to show experience in managing the communication of consortia and/or professional or research networks. Experience in international organizations and/or higher education institutions will also be regarded as a strong merit. Experience in activities regarding policy outreach of research would also be a strong merit. Experience and/or formal education in graphic design that can be demonstrated through a portfolio of previous works will also be considered as a merit. Personal qualities needed for the position include very good problem-solving skills, excellent drafting, communication and co-ordination skills, organisational skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and proven ability to work as a team member.
