We're on the lookout for a Platform Engineer, someone who is super passionate about Microsoft Azure!

This role requires someone who appreciates Azure for driving digital transformation and can help in making things run like a well-oiled machine. As part of the Platform team at Inter IKEA, you seek to improve each development team’s security, compliance, cost and time-to-business value. You continuously improve the developer experience and self-service capabilities within a secure and governed framework. You're like the silent guardian, working diligently to design, develop, and maintain the fundament that keeps everything running smoothly.

You strive for development teams to become self-sufficient, assist with common tasks, provide common infrastructure patterns and create them into reusable building blocks. Together with the team we provide early advice and feedback on problems or security risks. We strive to simplify cloud operations for Inter IKEA by managing underlying infrastructure and common use products.

And of course you’ll keep out an eye for cost. After all, the key at IKEA is to achieve good results with small means.

Qualifications

You are passionate about delivering high quality platform capabilities that make life easier for the many development teams at Inter IKEA. You can go down into technology challenges and at the same time you are energized by working together with others across functions. Working agile and being adoptable to change are key components of the IKEA values that you share and live. You take your deep knowledge and experience with Azure and use it to shape our platform and interact with its users so we can together build a better everyday life for the many people.

To be successful in this role, the following knowledge, skills and experiences would be valuable:

  • 5+ years previous experience and proven skills working with Microsoft Azure, certification of your knowledge is a plus

  • Experience working in a large enterprise hybrid multi-cloud environment

  • Understanding the foundation of landing zone architecture (Microsoft Enterprise Scale) and policy driven governance & compliance
  • Experience advising development teams on Azure solution architecture

  • A solid portfolio on infrastructure automation through code, containers and serverless architectures

  • High proficiency in Azure PowerShell, KQL and Azure CLI to be able to follow one of our team core principles: ‘automate everything’

  • Familiarity with ‘Defender for Cloud’ and standard IT security practices such as identity and access management (Entra ID and Azure RBAC), data protection, encryption, certificate-, and key- management

  • Experience of building and deploying resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with at least one of the following tools: Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform

  • Solid skills in Git and CI/CD pipelines through tooling such as GitHub and Azure DevOps

  • You are familiar with FinOps as a concept and cost optimization practices

  • You need to be able to think collaboratively, flexibly, iteratively, and experimentally

  • Good ability to communicate technical concepts and processes clearly at an appropriate level to team members, stakeholders and suppliers (the community) in a clear and engaging way

  • Possess a passion for continuous learning, strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking and common-sense judgement

This role is full-time (40 hours per week) and based in Delft, the Netherlands or Malmö, Sweden. This role sits in the Digital Engineering & Shared Platforms and reports to Manager Cloud & Hosting.
