Luleå University of Technology is currently in a phase of expansion and is undertaking an initiative to strengthen research and education in cybersecurity by establishing a new research group in the field. This initiative builds upon the university's successful computer science environment—which includes several strong research groups—offering excellent opportunities for synergy. We therefore place great importance on research and the development of methods to protect various types of Internet-connected systems. These systems range from small sensors to large-scale control systems, such as those used for critical infrastructure. The research spans the spectrum from in-depth technical studies to applied research conducted in collaboration with industry and society.

The cybersecurity group at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering, Luleå University of Technology, is now seeking an Associate Senior Lecturer to contribute to our activities.

Subject description

Cyber Security focuses on technical security aspects as well as protection of systems that are connected to the Internet and include protection of software, data, and hardware.

Duties

As an Associate Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in the university's education—particularly our newly launched Master's programme in cybersecurity, but also undergraduate and doctoral-level courses where applicable. In addition, the role includes pedagogical development and research within one or more of our profile areas: AI security, memory-safe programming, cloud security, OT security, blockchain applications, security and resilience in 5G/6G networks, and security culture and innovation, based on your own research interests and ongoing research projects.

Qualifications

To meet the requirements for the appointment as associate senior lecturer, the applicant:

• must have been awarded a doctoral degree or must have a foreign degree considered equivalent to a doctoral degree.

Primary consideration should be given to someone who has been awarded a doctoral degree within five years of the application deadline for employment as an associate senior lecturer. However, someone who has been awarded a doctoral degree or achieved corresponding competence at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds. Special grounds are sick leave, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

• scientific expertise
• other assessment criteria.

Other assessment criteria:

• the degree of expertise required for qualification
• administrative proficiency that is of value in view of the subject matter and the duties included in the appointment
• the ability to collaborate with the wider community
• the ability to communicate research and development work
• the ability to teach in Swedish within a maximum of three years (the university offers language training if needed)
• doctoral degree obtained no more than five years prior to the application deadline

Currently, the majority of employees within the subject Cybersecurity are men and therefore we encourage applications from women.

Period of employment

For this employment, an employment period of four years applies.

Promotion to senior lecturer

An associate senior lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to senior lecturer and a position until further notice. If the applicant is qualified for a position as senior lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such a position, is determined in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below:

In the examination, it is required that the associate senior lecturer has completed higher education pedagogical education corresponding to 7.5 credits or has acquired corresponding knowledge in another way.

During the employment period, the associate senior lecturer must also independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
