Core mission The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. Every year we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research. Working within the ILL's Instrument Control Service (SCI), you will join a team responsible for instrument electronics. You will work closely with the person in charge of the electronics of each instrument, performing wiring and cabling work at the instrument site, as well as preparatory work in the laboratory. Your tasks . Perform wiring and cabling work on the instruments: laying cables, fitting sockets and connectors. . Perform preparatory work in the laboratory prior to wiring/cabling work at the instrument site. . Design and build customised electronics modules specifically for the SCI as required. . Read, interpret and update wiring diagrams on a computer. . Perform soldering with care and precision, in compliance with quality standards. Your profile . You have at least a Level 3 qualification (NVQ, City and Guilds, apprenticeship) in electronics, electrical engineering or a related field. . Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams. . Excellent command of soldering techniques. . You must have a meticulous approach to your work and an eye for detail in order to keep defects to an absolute minimum. . Mechanical skills for producing small parts would be a plus.
