Your roleAs an Operational Environmental Resistance Specialist within BU Surface, you will play a key role in shaping how environmental robustness is defined, verified, and developed across our products. As a technical authority, you will guide the application of military and international standards and influence the development of both current and future products.
You will define and evolve Saab's approach to environmental verification, ensuring a strong connection between operational requirements, field data, simulation, testing, and final qualification. This includes developing methodologies for translating operational use cases and driving profiles into design-driving load requirements and accelerated test profiles, ensuring traceability throughout the verification chain.
As a Specialist, you are expected to drive the development of your technical area through thought leadership, methodological advancement, and strategic direction. You will identify future trends, evaluate risks and opportunities, challenge established ways of working, and influence key technical decisions across the organisation.
The role includes close collaboration with engineers, technical specialists, product management, customers, partners, and academia. Through these networks, you will influence future capabilities, drive knowledge development, and help shape tomorrow's solutions within environmental resistance and operational robustness.
While assigned to a specific line organisation, Specialists work for the benefit of Saab as a whole. Appointments are made for a three-year term (2026-2028), with at least 20% of your time dedicated to specialist activities.
As part of Saab's Specialist Programme, you will collaborate with specialists across the company, participate in development activities and mentorship opportunities, and maintain a specialist plan that defines the long-term vision and direction of your technical area.

For this position, you bring extensive experience in mechanical environmental engineering, complemented by knowledge of climatic environmental conditions, together with expertise in military and international standards, requirements engineering, environmental verification, and the correlation between field data and verification activities.
