Description of the employer: Norefjell Skisenter is a ski resort located at Norefjell in Krødsherad, Norway. The resort offers alpine skiing, ski school, ski rental, ski service, ski shop and various guest services and activities during the winter season. The ski resort employs seasonal and permanent staff across several departments, including ski instructors, ski rental, ski service, ski shop, lift operations, restaurants and guest services. The resort welcomes both Norwegian and international guests throughout the winter season and operates with varying staffing needs depending on guest numbers and seasonal demand. The Ski Instructor is responsible for providing professional ski instruction to guests at Norefjell Skisenter. The position involves teaching skiing to children, teenagers and adults at different ability levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. Main duties and responsibilities: - Conduct ski lessons for individuals and groups according to the guest's age, ability and objectives. - Teach fundamental skiing techniques, including balance, turning, stopping, speed control and safe skiing. - Adapt teaching methods and exercises to the individual needs and skill level of each guest. - Ensure that lessons are conducted in a safe, professional and positive environment. - Explain and promote safe behaviour and appropriate conduct on the slopes. - Assist guests with basic equipment-related questions and ensure that ski equipment is suitable for the lesson. - Follow the ski school's routines, safety procedures and operational guidelines. - Cooperate with other instructors and resort departments to ensure efficient daily operations. The position requires good skiing ability, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with guests of different ages and nationalities. Previous ski instructor experience and/or recognised ski instructor qualifications are preferred. The position is seasonal and will primarily involve working during the winter season. Working hours vary according to guest demand and may include evenings, weekends and public holidays. Education: Relevant ski instructor education or recognised ski instructor training is preferred. Candidates should have appropriate knowledge of skiing technique, teaching methods and slope safety. Work experience: Previous experience as a ski instructor is preferred, particularly experience teaching children and adults at different skiing levels. Experience from a ski school, ski resort or other customer-facing role is an advantage. Language: Good English communication skills are required. Knowledge of Norwegian or other European languages is an advantage due to the international nature of our guests. Certificates and qualifications: A recognised ski instructor qualification or certification is preferred. Relevant first aid training and knowledge of ski safety procedures are an advantage. Other skills: The candidate must have strong skiing abilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt instruction to different ages and ability levels. The candidate must be reliable, service-minded and able to work independently as well as as part of a team in a busy seasonal environment.
