Description of the employer: Norefjell Skisenter is a ski resort located at Norefjell in Krødsherad, Norway. The resort offers alpine skiing, ski school, ski rental, ski service, ski shop and various guest services and activities during the winter season. The ski resort employs seasonal and permanent staff across several departments, including ski instructors, ski rental, ski service, ski shop, lift operations, restaurants and guest services. The resort welcomes both Norwegian and international guests throughout the winter season and operates with varying staffing needs depending on guest numbers and seasonal demand. Job description: The Ski Technician is responsible for the maintenance, preparation and servicing of skis and snowboards at Norefjell Skisenter. The position involves working primarily in the ski service workshop and handling both the resort's rental equipment fleet and guests' personal equipment. Main duties and responsibilities: - Maintain, repair and prepare alpine skis and snowboards for daily use. - Perform machine and manual ski servicing, including base grinding, edge tuning, waxing and polishing. - Prepare and maintain the resort's rental ski fleet to ensure that equipment is safe, functional and in good condition. - Carry out repairs and adjustments to skis, snowboards and bindings within the scope of the position. - Perform regular inspection and maintenance of rental equipment. - Service guests' skis and snowboards according to their requirements and the ski service's quality standards. - Operate and maintain ski service machinery and workshop equipment. - Identify damage, wear and technical issues and determine the appropriate service or repair. - Ensure correct handling and preparation of ski and snowboard equipment before it is returned to guests or placed back into the rental fleet. - Follow safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations when working with machinery and equipment. - Keep the workshop clean, organised and efficient. - Provide professional customer service and explain completed services and recommended maintenance to guests when required. - Cooperate with the ski rental, ski shop and other resort departments. - Assist with other operational tasks within the ski service department when required. The position requires good technical understanding of skis and snowboards, attention to detail and an interest in ski equipment and maintenance. Previous experience from a ski workshop or ski service department is preferred. Experience operating professional ski service machinery is an advantage. The position is seasonal and primarily involves working during the winter season. Working hours may vary from week to week depending on guest numbers and whether the resort is operating during peak or low season. Weekend and public holiday work may be required. Work experience: Previous experience from a ski workshop, ski service department or ski rental is preferred. Experience Wintersteiger machines, base grinding, edge tuning, waxing and ski repairs is an advantage. Technical skills: Good understanding of alpine skis, snowboards, bindings and related equipment. The candidate should be able to identify damage and wear and carry out appropriate maintenance, repairs and adjustments. Experience operating and maintaining professional ski service machinery is an advantage. Language: Good English communication skills are required in order to communicate with colleagues and international guests. Norwegian or other European languages are an advantage. Certificates and qualifications: Relevant ski technician or ski service qualifications are an advantage. Training or certification related to machinery operation, workshop safety or equipment maintenance is also beneficial. Other skills: The candidate must be precise, quality-oriented and able to work independently. Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently during busy periods are required. The candidate must also be service-minded and able to cooperate well with colleagues across different departments.
