The Construction Manager must combine strong field leadership with the ability to manage planning, priorities, resources, and interfaces across a major industrial EPC/EPCM construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate construction activities across the scope, ensuring safe, efficient and timely execution of the works.
- Provide overall leadership to site construction organisation, including CSA, Mechanical, Piping, HVAC, Electrical, Instrumentation and associated disciplines.
- Coordinate discipline leads, construction supervisors, contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project priorities and execution requirements.
- Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, project procedures, and applicable standards.
- Drive construction planning and readiness, ensuring engineering, materials, access, permits, resources, and contractor preparations are aligned ahead of execution.
- Monitor construction progress against the approved schedule and work closely with Planning and Project Controls to identify delays, constraints, and recovery actions.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination and resolve construction interfaces between disciplines, contractors, vendors, and adjacent project areas.
- Challenge and support contractors to maintain productivity, manpower levels, sequencing, and delivery commitments.
- Ensure HSE requirements are embedded within construction execution and actively support a strong safety culture across the site.
- Work closely with Quality teams to ensure inspection requirements, documentation, NCR resolution, and construction quality standards are maintained.
- Identify construction risks, bottlenecks, and emerging issues early and drive appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
- Lead regular construction coordination and progress meetings with discipline teams, contractors, and relevant project stakeholders.
- Provide clear and structured reporting to Project Management covering construction progress, key risks, contractor performance, priorities, and required interventions.
- Maintain close coordination with the client’s Construction Management team and ensure effective communication between the EPCM organisation and the client.
- Support constructability reviews, work-front planning, system turnover, commissioning readiness, and handover activities.
- Ensure lessons learned and construction best practices are implemented consistently throughout the project area.

- Commercially and contractually aware, with a strong understanding of contractor responsibilities, scope boundaries and change management.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced major-project environment with multiple contractors, competing priorities and significant interfaces.
- Strong communicator capable of working effectively with senior client representatives, project management, engineering teams and construction contractors.
- Proactive and decisive, with the ability to identify problems early and implement practical solutions before they impact construction progress.
Experience Requirements

- Previous experience operating from the EPCM or client-side construction management organisation, rather than exclusively within a subcontractor environment.
- Strong experience managing multidisciplinary construction packages and contractor interfaces.
- Demonstrable experience leading construction teams on large-scale heavy industrial projects.
- Major heavy industrial project experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience within projects involving major mechanical equipment, piping systems, structural steel, electrical systems and complex process installations.
