Job description:
Let's introduce ourselves We are looking for a highly skilled Boxcar and data Engineer to join SWTC.
This role combines hands-on test environment ownership with system-level integration and verification, ensuring robust and scalable validation of rig environment and related systems.
You will play a key role in maintenance and quality assure simulation environments, and hardware test rigs (boxcars) while collaborating across engineering domains.
What you'll do Test Environment Ownership
- Develop, maintain, and operate Boxcar, related data and system set-up
- Ensure availability, stability, and scalability of rig
- Support test execution, troubleshooting from environment perspective, and continuous improvement
- Support automation and efficiency improvements
Boxcar & Hardware Setup
- Build, configure, and maintain boxcar rigs for system integration and verification
- Integrate ECUs, networks, and supporting infrastructure into test setups
- Ensure correct vehicle architecture replication in lab environments
- Troubleshoot hardware, communication interfaces, and system behaviors
System Integration & Verification
- Support end-to-end system integration across multiple domains
- Collaborate with developers and test teams to verify software and feature functionality
- Identify and resolve integration issues early in the development cycle
- Contribute to root cause analysis and defect resolution
Collaboration & Stakeholder Interaction
- Work closely with Tech Leads, Architects, developers, testers, and infrastructure teams
- Support cross-team alignment for test environment readiness and usage
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and improved ways of working
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in:
- Health checks in rig, computer and system
- System reliability
- Environment utilization and reliability
- Contribute to evolving SWTC test strategies and capabilities
- Promote best practices in integration, validation, and system understanding
Profile description:
What you'll bring Required Qualifications
- Experience in:
- Embedded systems, automotive software, or system integration
- Test environments (VIL, HIL, SIL, or similar)
- Hardware setups and ECU/network integration
- Strong understanding of:
- Vehicle electrical/system architecture
- CAN, Ethernet, or similar communication protocols
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills across hardware and software domains
- Experience with test automation and scripting (e.g., Python and CAPL)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with boxcar rigs or similar lab-based test environments
- Knowledge of continuous integration / continuous testing workflows
- Familiarity with Volvo Cars tools, processes, and SWTC environment
- Experience supporting Windows new images or test environment infrastructure migrations
