Scope of Role
The Technical Lead / SW GDL is responsible for leading software-related activities for Door Control Functions and Door Control Units across SPA1/CMA, SPA2, and SPA3 platforms. The role drives supplier coordination, software delivery management, integration readiness, diagnostics, cybersecurity, release management, and software verification activities to ensure compliant and robust customer functionality.
The role acts as the technical software lead towards suppliers and internal stakeholders for all software-related development and release activities.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related engineering field.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in Automotive Embedded Software Development and Integration.
• Strong understanding of automotive software lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and release management.
• Experience working with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, CANFD, LIN, Ethernet, and Diagnostics protocols.
• Good understanding of AUTOSAR concepts, embedded ECU software architecture, and automotive diagnostics.
• Experience in software verification, integration testing, HIL validation, and issue troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with automotive tools such as CANoe, vTestStudio, Lauterbach, CarWeaver, Jira, Confluence, Teamcenter, and Planisware.
• Experience in supplier management and SW joint reviews.
• Understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety and ISO 21434 Cybersecurity requirements.
• Experience in continuous integration, release management, and software delivery governance.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.
• Previous experience working within Volvo Cars environment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead software-related development and delivery activities for Door Control Functions and Door Control Units.
• Act as the primary SW technical interface towards ECU suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Define, review, and maintain software requirements aligned with customer functions and system architecture.
• Coordinate supplier software deliveries, release plans, software maturity tracking, and integration readiness.
• Lead SW joint reviews, cybersecurity reviews, diagnostics reviews, and software quality assessments.
• Secure software integration readiness for HIL, bench, subsystem, and vehicle-level testing.
• Support development and maintenance of communication interfaces, signal mappings, and diagnostics implementations.
• Coordinate software verification activities including test planning, execution follow-up, and defect resolution.
• Drive Fault Report analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions through VIRA and related processes.
• Ensure software release documentation and delivery artifacts are completed according to VPDS and Volvo WoW.
• Support continuous improvement of test automation, software quality, and release efficiency.
• Collaborate with System Design, Hardware, Cybersecurity, Safety, and Vehicle Integration teams to ensure aligned implementation.
• Ensure software compliance with ISO 26262, ISO 21434, and Volvo Cars Standards.
• Support calibration planning and software configuration activities for different vehicle variants.
• Secure software-related data and documentation in systems such as PIE, CarWeaver, Teamcenter, and Planisware.
