Appointment as Assistant Professor
This is a 5-year full-time tenure-track position, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, whereby the employee has the opportunity to acquire both pedagogical and scientific qualifications. An Assistant Professor is expected to improve her or his ability to formulate and solve scientific problems, to publish scientific articles, and to develop abilities in teaching and supervision, by means of both practical training and independent study. At the end of the five years you will be evaluated for internal recruitment to a permanent position as Associate Professor.
Qualifications
You hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field, obtained within seven years before the application deadline. Exceptions to the seven-year eligibility limit may be made for documented circumstances such as parental leave or military service.
You have demonstrated independent, high-quality research and potential to build a competitive research program. You also show interest in teaching and educational development.
Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Chalmers offers Swedish language courses.
We are looking for candidates who are interested in building a research group and attracting external funding and who are interested in research and education. You are open-minded and interested in collaborating both within and outside Chalmers, nationally and internationally. You also have interest in—and experience from—teaching and supervision as well as a post-doctoral or equivalent stay, ideally from an institution other than the one where the PhD was awarded. Teamwork, leadership, organizational and entrepreneurial skills are clear advantages.

Appointment as Associate Professor
The appointment as Associate Professor is a permanent faculty position. An Associate Professor is expected to conduct research at highly international standards. An Associate Professor is expected to continuously apply for research funding and to actively contribute to the development of the subject area both nationally and internationally. The employee is expected to supervise doctoral students, to teach at all levels and to participate in courses and programmes development. The Associate Professor is also expected to continuously develop their education skills, to actively develop their contribution in utilization and academic citizenship.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Associate Professor position, you have a doctoral degree in a relevant field and demonstrate independent scientific research of a high international quality and growing production of research.
