We are looking for a skilled and driven NGS Specialist & Project Manager to join our team. In this dual role, you will combine deep hands-on expertise in next-generation sequencing with the ability to lead and deliver complex sponsor projects from start to finish. If you thrive in a fast-paced scientific environment and take pride in both the quality of your lab work and the success of your projects, we look forward to hearing from you!

What You Will Do

In this role, you will split your time between hands-on NGS work and project management - as comfortable leading a project as running an experiment.

As NGS Specialist, you will:

  • Support the Biomarker and LS team with practical and theoretical NGS expertise.
  • Consult other Project Managers with NGS project planning as required.
  • Advice and practically help Lab Scientists and Project Manager’s in NGS project conduct.
  • Optimize and draft new SOP’s and Work Instructions as applicable in the area of NGS.
  • Perform NGS experiments and assays following established protocols and SOPs.
  • Conduct DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and library construction using cutting-edge technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize NGS library preparation and construction.
  • Take ownership of laboratory instrument operation, maintenance, calibration, and quality control.
  • Analyze NGS data, including quality assessment, alignment, variant calling, and interpretation of genomic variations.
  • Collaborate closely with bioinformaticians, laboratory scientists, and project managers to ensure seamless workflows and timely delivery of results.
  • Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of NGS methods and workflows for genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analysis.
  • Generate scientific reports and present findings for internal teams and clients.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in line with quality standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in NGS technologies and apply new knowledge to enhance workflows.
  • Uphold strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Support other laboratory activities, including sample preparation, quality control, and inventory management, as needed.

As Project Manager, you will:

  • Plan, implement, and track projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and deliverables.
  • Develop and qualify genomics or proteomics assays, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and methodologies to achieve accurate and reliable results.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, communicating project progress, updates, and adjustments clearly and transparently.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies, critical paths, and risks, applying effective problem-solving strategies to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Review and approve project documentation including SOPs, protocols, and procedural documents.
  • Collaborate closely and cross-functionally with internal laboratory team and external partners, providing guidance, training, and support to maximize project outcomes.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant recordkeeping of project data, analysis, and reporting.
  • Present regular updates and final reports to stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • A PhD in a relevant field with 2+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 5+ years with prior experience in a CRO, biotech, or pharma environment. Clinical experience, particularly within an industry setting, is a strong advantage.
  • Extensive prior experience with NGS techniques, library preparation, and data analysis in a laboratory or research setting.
  • Familiarity with PCR, digital PCR, and relevant data analysis tools and software.
  • Knowledge of genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics concepts and methodologies.
  • High proficiency in using laboratory equipment, software, and relevant tools for NGS analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills or experience managing teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to high-quality standards and continuous improvement in both laboratory practices and project management.
  • A strong self-motivational drive and genuine investment in the shared success of the team, as well as a can-do attitude with the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and priorities.
