Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional with strong expertise in NGS laboratory operations to support the scaling of our diagnostic services.
In this role, you will work closely with the Laboratory Manager to oversee daily operations, optimize workflows, and ensure the highest standards of quality across our NIPT and genomic services.
You will play a key role in bridging technical excellence with operational efficiency in a regulated laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Workflow Coordination: Oversee and coordinate end-to-end laboratory processes, ensuring consistent and efficient execution of NGS workflows.
- Process Optimization: Continuously develop and refine laboratory protocols to improve efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and maintain high quality standards.
- Technology & Tech Transfer: Support the coordination of technology transfers and implementation of new genomic platforms within the laboratory.
- Digital Integration (LIMS): Collaborate on the development and optimization of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to support laboratory operations, logistics, and reporting.
- Resource Management: Manage laboratory inventory, contribute to resource planning, and support supplier coordination to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between the laboratory and functions such as IT, Logistics, and R&D, working closely with international stakeholders.
- Quality & Troubleshooting: Take an active role in troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring all laboratory activities meet regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.
D.) in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medicine, or a closely related Life Sciences field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in a senior laboratory role, including direct responsibility for operational oversight in a clinical or diagnostic laboratory setting.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows in a clinical setting, including implementation, validation, and routine operation of NIPT or similar assays.
Prior experience with Illumina Veriseq platforms in a production environment, including troubleshooting, optimization, and quality control, is required.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams, while operating effectively in a matrix or multi-site organization.
Comfortable engaging with both laboratory staff and senior management.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience resolving complex technical and operational issues in a live production environment.
- International Collaboration: Experience working in cross-border or multi-site laboratory environments, with the ability to coordinate across different teams, processes, and regulatory expectations.
- Language: Proficiency in English is required.
Working knowledge of Croatian, Serbian or Slovenian is highly advantageous due to collaboration across group laboratories.
Swedish is beneficial but not required.
