Position description

As a Research Engineer, you will work within a large EU-funded research project (exceeding €50 million) involving nearly 40 academic and industrial partners. The project is conducted within the research environment of the Future Energy Center (FEC) and focuses on the electrification of aviation.

The role combines advanced technical analysis and modelling with close collaboration in international research and industrial environments. A significant part of the work will be carried out in cooperation with external partner organisations.

As a Research Engineer, your tasks will include:

• Modelling and simulation of hybrid-electric aero-engine performance and environmental impact
• Working with preliminary system design and mission analysis
• Participating in and contributing to interdisciplinary and international project teams
• Collaborating with academic and industrial partners at national and international level
• Presenting and disseminating research results at project meetings, conferences, and through scientific publications.

You are expected to take responsibility for your work, be able to work independently when required, and actively contribute to the development of both the project and the research environment.

Qualification requirements

• Master’s degree in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant technical field
• Very good ability to communicate technical information in English, both orally and in writing
• Swedish or other EU citizenship (due to the project’s security classification)

Merits

• Knowledge in propulsion and aeronautical engineering, including performance and conceptual design
• Experience in energy systems modelling and mathematical optimization
• Programming skills in, for example, Matlab, Python, C++, Fortran, or equivalent
• Experience from industrial R&D or working within academic research projects
• Experience of international research collaboration and cooperation with external partners
