As a Special Education Teacher, you will have an overall impact in students’ daily lives – in planning, in challenges, and in those moments where the right support can make a real difference.
SSHL is a boarding school with roots dating back to the 1920s and today has approximately 550 students from over 45 countries. We offer both Swedish and international education, Swedish national curriculum and IB programmes. Our ambition is always to act in the best interest of the student.

ARBETSUPPGIFTER
As a special education teacher, you will be part of the student health and support team and work closely with mentors, teachers, boarding staff, and school leadership. You will have a particular focus on our boarding students' academics and contribute to ensuring that they receive equitable, accessible, and high-quality educational support. The role is varied and includes working with students both individually and in groups, supporting their academic development, study skills, and ability to structure their learning.
You will work with students who require additional support as well as those seeking further academic challenge. Through mapping, follow-up, and the development of action plans, you will help create the right conditions for each student. You will support students in planning and completing larger assignments and projects, and actively contribute to developing their independence.
You will work in close collaboration with teachers, contributing with your expertise in relation to differentiated instruction and adaptations. You will also be involved in developing the schools support structures and participate actively in the student health and support team.
In line with the needs of the boarding environment, some evening work and occasional weekends will be required outside of regular school hours.
We are looking for someone who:
• is confident in their professional role and able to build trusting relationships with students
• is structured yet flexible, and able to remain calm under pressure
• has a solution-oriented approach and sound professional judgement
• is comfortable taking responsibility and knows when to act independently and when to consult others
• has strong analytical skills and a clear focus on quality
• is genuinely motivated to support students development and learning
KVALIFIKATIONER
• a degree in Special Education (Special Education Teacher qualification) with subject competence in a relevant area, or equivalent higher education deemed appropriate by the employer
• experience working with students in need of additional support
• strong ability to work in a structured way with planning and follow-up of students learning
• excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English
• additional language skills are considered an asset
• experience from an international environment or work outside regular school hours is an advantage
