Role Overview

The client is looking for a Power BI Consultant to support the visualization and monitoring of operational activities within the construction and environmental administration.

This assignment focuses on transforming raw data from SQL Server-based business systems into meaningful insights through structured data modeling, analysis, and interactive dashboards using Power BI. The consultant will play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making by delivering clear and effective visual reports.

Job Description

The selected consultant will work closely with the client’s internal teams to extract, structure, and interpret data from multiple database tables within the business system. The objective is to develop comprehensive Power BI reports that present operational metrics and key performance indicators in an accessible format via dashboards and web-based solutions.

Support will be provided by the system manager responsible for the Castor platform, along with documentation outlining database structures and reporting expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI
• Extract and integrate data from SQL Server databases across multiple tables
• Perform data modeling, transformation, and consolidation to ensure accurate reporting
• Analyze datasets to derive meaningful insights aligned with business needs
• Present data visually through intuitive and user-friendly dashboards
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and key metrics
• Publish and share reports via web platforms for broader accessibility
• Provide time and cost estimates for report development and enhancements
• Recommend improvements for data visualization and reporting efficiency

Experience Requirements

• 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in Power BI and data visualization (Intermediate Level)
• Proven experience working with SQL Server data sources
• Experience in handling structured data from complex systems and multiple tables

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Required Skills

• Power BI (dashboard creation, data modeling, DAX, visualization)
• SQL Server (data extraction, querying, and transformation)
• Data analysis and reporting
• Data visualization best practices

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with the Castor business system
• Experience working with public sector or administrative data environments

Language Requirements

• Swedish – Proficient (mandatory)

Other Requirements

• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setup
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and interpret requirements
• Proactive approach to suggesting improvements and optimizations
