Job Overview:
The client is undergoing a major system transformation, replacing its existing member registry platform with a new solution.
This transition involves migrating historically accumulated data, managing system dependencies, and ensuring seamless integration with connected systems.
In parallel, a structured and controlled decommissioning of the legacy system is required, including proper handling of historical data, compliance with regulatory requirements, and secure archiving.
The Data Migration Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring data integrity, continuity of business operations, and a smooth transition to the new system while maintaining compliance with data protection and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and document existing data structures, system dependencies, and integration points.
- Perform data cleansing, validation, and standardization to ensure high data quality prior to migration.
- Define and implement data mapping between legacy and target systems in collaboration with the client.
- Plan and execute test migrations, validating outcomes and ensuring accuracy with stakeholders.
- Lead the full-scale data migration process, including planning downtime, rollback strategies, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and relevant data protection regulations throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive decommissioning strategy for the legacy system.
- Coordinate system shutdown activities, including infrastructure dismantling in collaboration with service providers.
- Identify, migrate, or securely dispose of backups and data stored across internal and external environments.
- Transfer all relevant source code, system configurations, and documentation to the client.
- Provide continuous documentation, reporting, and knowledge transfer throughout the assignment.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to manage dependencies and ensure successful delivery.
Deliverables:
- Current system assessment and data mapping documentation
- Test migration plans, execution reports, and validation results
- Production migration and deployment plan
- Decommissioning and archiving strategy
- Complete handover of source code, configurations, and technical documentation
- Final project report with outcomes and recommendations
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with FrontBase databases
- Proficiency in Swift development
- Experience working with Mac-based environments and hardware
- Solid understanding of GDPR and data protection compliance
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 information security standards
Experience:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in system development, maintenance, and data migration
- Proven expertise in handling complex system transitions and decommissioning projects
- Experience within rental or housing sector systems and workflows is highly desirable
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
