We are seeking a Formulation Manager.

Purpose of the role

· Main R&D representative in Product Delivery team for all projects.

· Work with the external suppliers to confirm formulation development activities and timelines required to deliver new products.

· Provide NPD project management and drive delivery within the R&D functions in NPD.

· Accountable for ensuring formulations sourced from suppliers are compliant vs the Oriflame technical guidelines and fit for purpose vs Marketing brief.

· Collaborate R&D technical functions to ensure delivery of safe, quality NPD formulations, complying with regulations and Oriflame policies.

· Coordinate formulation resource to support and deliver across multiple programs to balance workload and priorities.

Key responsibilities

NPD Excellence in Delivery- drive delivery within the R&D function for NPD:

· Effectively communicate information, project status (including project status for sub-contracted formulations) to R&D NPD Delivery Team.

· Assess risks and develops action plans; Agree project complexity and timings

· Manage project milestones progress against agreed timings

· Act as a technical adviser where appropriate to the Product Delivery Team.

· Key technical liaison for external suppliers.

· Responsible for the delivery of well defined, achievable technical briefs.

· Accountable for the development and delivery within NPD, of compliant, fit for purpose formulations, from concept to successful production runs.

· Utilise all support services to ensure delivery of safe, quality NPD formulations, complying with regulations and Oriflame policies.

· Ensure the application of a ‘Design for Manufacturing’ approach and manage complexity, efficiency in manufacturing and filling, scalability, reproducibility in in-house NPD.

· Deliver, measure, and communicate acceptable KPI’s for Delivery team.

· Ensure that Product Clarification Documents are populated accurately.

· Drive functional excellence and capability within the Delivery team.

· Drive continuous improvement in NPD processes within the category, delivering best-in-class service levels, cost and quality. Use outside in approach to benchmarks to performance.

· Drive delivery and provide technical project management for post launch product maintenance activity.

Strategy Creation

· Support the creation of the NPD innovation pipeline strategy.

· Collaborate with Marketing to create / review the Marketing Strategy.

· Translate the Marketing Strategy to define needs / gaps within the Formulation team to successfully deliver.

Technology, Innovation and Creativity

· Enabling the current delivery chemist to deliver technology projects.

· Build an awareness of and support external partnerships/strategic collaboration.

· Help in the generation and communication of technical reports / teach-ins on newly gained capabilities.

· Have an awareness of Mega and Macro trends and insights within the industry and beyond.

· Work together with Claims Scientist to enable the use of innovative claims and test methods for use in the development of NPD.

· Understand other category technologies to develop NPD formulations from portfolio extensions.

People Management

· Growing and enabling team career development through active planning, coaching and dialogue.

· Identify capability gaps and address accordingly.

· Grow expertise in core technologies of lips, eyes and face.

Skills & knowledge background

· High level of experience of leading and developing Formulation projects

· Ability to analyse & translate trends into new formulation prototypes

· Proven track record of success in fast paced and evolving environment(s)

· Pro-active, hands-on, with ability to assess the time required to deliver the projects and prioritise those with highest potential for return

Qualifications & Experience

· 10 years (+) experience in Cosmetic Science

· BSc in Cosmetic Science or similar education as a minimum

· Professional written and verbal communication skills in English
