Arbetsbeskrivning

How fast can energy technologies grow and what can policy realistically do to accelerate them? Join the Energy Technology and Policy group as a doctoral student and develop the data-driven methods to find out. About us  At the Division of Physical Resource Theory, we study how societies can transition towards sustainability. Building on physics and systems analysis, our interdisciplinary research connects technical and social sciences to address challenges such as climate change, energy transitions and sustainable land use.  About the research project   The Energy Technology and Policy group (ENTAP) is recruiting 1-2 doctoral students on technology foresight for policy-driven low-carbon technologies. One position will focus on technology foresight developing data-driven approaches for probabilistic modelling of new technologies; a second will focus on policy analysis leveraging machine-learning approaches to investigate the effectiveness of different policies and policy mixes in accelerating technology change. The positions will be linked to the MISTRA Electrification project and based in the ENTAP group which develops realistic climate and energy futures and has a strong international network and tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration. Who we are looking for The following requirements are mandatory:  • To qualify as a Doctoral student, you must have a Master's degree (masterexamen) of 120 credits or a Master’s degree (magisterexamen) of 60 credits* in energy studies, environmental science, complex systems studies, or a related field (for technology-focused position) or in economics, public policy, political science, or a related field (for thepolicy-focused position). • Experience in energy transitions research • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in quantitative modelling, data analysis, and scientific computing (e.g., in R, Python) • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English *for students with an education earned outside of Sweden, a 4-year Bachelor’s degree is accepted.  The following experience will strengthen your application:  • Experience in working with technology foresight models technology foresight modelling (for the technology-focused position) or quantitative policy analysis (for the policy-focused position).
