This position reports to: R&D Department Lead

Your role and responsibilities

You will join an experienced and high performing test team, participating in validating our existing and future DCS (Distributed Control System) products. This involves both manual and automated testing, as well as testing both software and hardware. Your knowledge and experience in industrial automation is crucial. The team is located in Malmö, Sweden, but works closely together with test teams and developers on other sites.

Responsibilities

• You will work as a tester of 800xA and our next generation DCS.
• The focus of the test team is validation of product requirements, i.e. high-level testing, for the controllers and related configuration tools.
• The testing covers both software and hardware.
• The work includes reviewing product requirements (from a testing perspective), specifying test cases based on these requirements, setting up test rigs, implementing test applications, running tests, and documenting and evaluating the results.
• While much of the testing is still done manually, a significant portion is already automated- and that share will continue to grow. You’ll play an important role in this transition.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automation or a closely related discipline.
• Solid background as an automation engineer, including hands-on experience implementing and testing customer applications with modern DCS solutions.
• Structured and quality‑focused in daily work, combined with an innovative mindset that helps improve processes and enhance our test environment.
• Familiarity with ABB’s 800xA system is a significant plus.
• Knowledge of test automation is beneficial.
• Experience working with Windows environments, ADO, and container technologies is valuable.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
