Ericsson AB Join our Team About this opportunity: Join BNEW R&D at Ericsson as a Principal Developer in Hyperscale Cloud Engineering. As the organisation accelerates its cloud transition—driven by AI, platform engineering and CloudRAN market demands—this role will establish and lead the hyperscale cloud domain within R&D. You will translate hyperscaler capabilities into secure, scalable, and efficient platform solutions that enable simulation, digital twins, 6G CI/CD, Generative AI and other R&D workloads. The role combines hands‑on technical delivery with strategic leadership across multiple regions and a growing developer community. What you will do: * Lead the technical architecture and roadmap for our hyperscale cloud platform (initial focus on AWS@R&D), ensuring alignment with R&D and enterprise security and compliance requirements. * Own architecture decisions, platform governance, IaC templates and deployment processes across multiple accounts and regions. * Design, implement and operate cloud services and integrations (e.g., EKS, SageMaker, Bedrock, Batch, DocumentDB, Neptune, Redshift, FSx Lustre and compute instances) with focus on scalability, reliability and cost efficiency. * Ensure platform availability and resilience, accountable for maintaining high uptime and disaster recovery capabilities. * Define and enforce technical security architecture and controls; coordinate security posture with R&D ITSAC, Ericsson IT and Group Security (ISO27001, penetration testing, compliance). * Drive technology evaluation and adoption of new cloud services and third‑party tools; perform architecture reviews and technical assessments. * Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the platform team and the broader community of builders; develop training and onboarding tailored to varied skill levels. * Act as the primary technical authority and point of contact for internal stakeholders, presenting platform strategy and recommendations to senior leadership. * Implement and promote cost visibility and optimisation measures for cloud consumption across project owners. The skills you bring:  * Extensive hands‑on experience with hyperscaler platforms (AWS preferred; Azure/GCP experience a plus), including deep knowledge of managed services and cloud‑native patterns. * Proven track record in cloud architecture, platform design, and operational management of multi‑region cloud environments. * Strong experience with container orchestration (EKS/Kubernetes), ML/AI platform services (SageMaker/Bedrock or equivalents), data services, and batch/compute workflows. * Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and deployment automation, and in building governed, repeatable platform modules and templates. * Demonstrated competence in cloud security architecture, compliance frameworks, and tooling for monitoring and protection. * Experience driving platform governance, technology evaluations and architecture decisions at senior level. * Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical complexity into practical guidance for diverse audiences and present to stakeholders. * Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities; experience building developer communities and enabling users at different skill levels. * Focus on operational excellence, cost optimisation and measurable delivery (SLA/uptime accountability). * Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience; senior/Principal level experience in cloud engineering or platform roles.
