Arbetsbeskrivning

About the role

Gnutti Carlo Group Sweden deploys machine-vision inspection stations on high-volume manufacturing lines for die-cast and machined metal parts. This role owns the image acquisition layer: selecting and standardizing cameras, optics, and lighting, and commissioning stations so they are stable, repeatable, and fast to deploy across multiple lines.

Your mission is to deliver robust, production-ready imaging performance in demanding industrial environments (vibration, contamination, reflections, and thermal drift), with clear standards and repeatable procedures.

Scope and impact (what success looks like)

You will drive measurable improvements in imaging robustness and deployability, including:

  • Reduced commissioning time per station through reusable standards and procedures.

  • Higher first-pass acceptance on image-quality verification at handover.

  • Improved uptime / reduced re-adjustments (focus, alignment, glare control, lighting drift).

  • Lower imaging-driven false rejects through stable, quantified image quality.

  • Repeatability across lines via standardized BOMs, golden settings, and acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Own imaging hardware selection: camera, lens, filters/polarization, illumination, and accessories; define station-standard BOMs including a spares strategy.

  • Define “golden settings”: exposure, gain, strobe/triggering, and timing strategy with defined margins and drift tolerance.

  • Create alignment and calibration SOPs: targets, reference images, setup steps, and verification methods for repeatable commissioning.

  • Set measurable image-quality acceptance criteria: focus/MTF proxies, blur limits, glare control, SNR/contrast, uniformity, and ongoing drift checks.

  • Specify mechanical interface requirements: mounting datums, adjustability, stiffness/vibration constraints, service access, cable routing, and strain relief.

  • Commission on-site: bring stations to stable production operation and convert commissioning learnings into standardized, repeatable procedures.

  • Design complete optics + lighting solutions: end-to-end imaging design for full vision stations per production line, including validation documentation.

  • Cross-functional integration: define imaging constraints and acceptance gates in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, PLC, and software/AI teams.

Requirements (must have)

  • Strong practical expertise in industrial optics and illumination (DOF, working distance, lens selection, shutter modes, polarization, lighting geometry, specular control).

  • Proven industrial commissioning experience in harsh conditions (vibration, oil/contamination, reflections, thermal drift).

  • Experience with GigE / GenICam camera configuration and hardware triggering/strobing.

  • Ability to write clear SOPs, enforce standards, and scale best practices across multiple lines and stations.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a metrology mindset: controlled experiments, repeatable verification, and evidence-based decisions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with the GigE camera ecosystem (e.g., OPT or comparable suppliers).

  • Experience inspecting die-cast/aluminum reflective surfaces.

  • Python scripting for capture tests, automated verification, and reproducible imaging checks.

  • Linux knowledge for commissioning and supporting Vision PCs.

  • Understanding of ML dataset image quality needs (consistency, labeling readiness, illumination stability).

  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices in production environments (e.g., working near automation equipment).

Tools and environment (typical)

  • Industrial cameras (GigE/GenICam), hardware triggers, strobes/lighting controllers

  • Lens and illumination systems (ring/bar/dome and application-specific geometries), filters and polarization

  • Test targets and reference artifacts for calibration/alignment and repeatable verification

  • Capture/verification scripting (Python) and commissioning workflows on Windows and/or Linux

Who you are

  • Hands-on and field-oriented: you enjoy solving real production problems at the machine.

  • Disciplined about standards, documentation, and repeatability—you build systems others can deploy reliably.

  • Practical and outcome-driven: you balance image quality, cycle time, and robustness under production constraints.

  • Clear communicator: you can align mechanical/electrical/software stakeholders around measurable acceptance criteria.
