About the team

Many MEMS devices incorporate moving mechanical structures and therefore require extremely clean surfaces and highly stable processes to ensure proper functionality and long-term reliability. The wet chemistry area supports these requirements using a wide range of equipment, from manually operated wet benches to fully automated chemical processing systems. The equipment utilizes a variety of chemistry and gases. Some of the equipment in this department includes:

• Manual and automated wet benches for cleaning and etching

• Solvent and acid spray processing tools (automated)

• Vacuum ovens for drying and curing (high temperature)

• Electroplating systems for metal deposition. System uses pulsing power supplies and robot handling

This is a fast-paced, varied and unique area where the processes differ a lot: wet-etching, lift-off, deposition and vapor techniques are just some of the techniques used to both remove and build material on our chips. The department is staffed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of 10 process engineers, four service technicians, one maintenance engineer and 35 operators.

About the role

As a Service Technician at Silex, you are responsible for ensuring high equipment reliability and stable production processes in our MEMS manufacturing environment. You perform planned preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance on wet processing equipment such as wet benches, spray tools, plating systems, and vacuum ovens. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement of tool performance. Work is carried out both in the cleanroom and in the service area, in close collaboration with skilled colleagues, including area managers, process engineers, and operators. You will be expected to participate in, and help drive, continuous improvements in the area. You will work Monday-Thursday 14.00-23.00 and play a key role in maintaining safe operation, process stability, and high production quality.

In this role, you will

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on the equipment.

• Carry out diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.

• Coordinate service activities within the area alongside the area manager and other service technicians.

• Support new installations as well as modifications and upgrades of existing equipment.

• Collaborate with Process Engineers when necessary with varied tasks.

• Ensure that equipment and machinery follow Silex’s policies for providing a safe work environment.

• Write and update technical documentation in English, related to both troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

We are looking for someone who

• Has at least five years of work experience in equipment service and maintenance within an industrial environment.

• Can troubleshoot effectively, using your understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, automation and chemistry.

• Is proficient in English, both written and spoken. Swedish is considered a merit.

• Works in a meticulous, structured, and detail-oriented way.

• Possesses the drive and curiosity to learn and grow together with Silex.

• Continuously works to find new ways to improve the area.

• Is able to work both independently and collaborate with technicians, engineers and operators.

• Has experience working in cleanroom, as a bonus.
