Polar Light Technologies is a fast-growing deep-tech startup developing next-generation photonic and semiconductor technologies to revolutionize the micro-LED industry.
We are seeking a highly skilled System Integration Engineer to lead the development and integration of next-generationgeneration microLED display systems.
In this role, you will bring together semiconductor devices, optics, electronics, software and advanced manufacturing processes to deliver high-performance microLED display modules.
You’ll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to drive concept development, system architecture, in-house prototyping, customer projects and industrialization of new solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and optimize the end-totoend architecture of microLED display systems, including electrical, optical, mechanical, and thermal management
- Translate performance requirements (brightness, power, color) into system level specifications
- Drive process integration for chip bonding and alignment
- Work closely with R&D to improve yield and other performance parameters
- Collaborate with CMOS backplane designers to ensure signal integrity, current driving accuracy, and display uniformity
- Conduct circuit level validation and rootlevel validation and rootcausecause analysis of electrical issues
- Integrate optical components such as microlenses, waveguides, and light managementmanagement films
- Model thermal performance and implement effective heat spreaderspreader and dissipation strategies.
- Conduct reliability testing (aging, color shift, thermal cycling) and develop mitigation strategies for device and system levellevel failures.
- Collaborate closely with semiconductor, optics, materials, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering teams within Polar Light Technologies and our customers
- Manage technical communication with external suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Develop prototypes to validate system performance
- Drive failure analysis and continuous design improvement
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Physics, Materials Science, or similar
- 3+ years of experience in display technology, LED devices, semiconductor integration
- Strong knowledge of:
- LED device physics
- CMOS backplanes
- Optics and color science
- System engineering and root-cause analysis
- Hands-on experience with optical or electrical characterization equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with InGaN/GaN-based microLED or MiniLED technologies
- Familiarity with advanced bonding processes
