The Opportunity
As a Control System Performance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the dynamic performance of FACTS control systems throughout the entire delivery lifecycle.
In this role, you will translate customer requirements and grid‑code specifications into well‑tuned, verified, and documented control behavior.
You will work with advanced EMT and HIL simulations and collaborate closely with project teams, R&D, and customers to secure robust system performance.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting‑edge technologies in high‑power converter control systems and contribute directly to the stability and reliability of power grids worldwide.
How you'll make an impact
- Ensure the control system’s dynamic performance from early design stages through FAT and site commissioning.
- Develop, tune, and verify control functions using Virtual MACH models; perform performance verification with PSCAD and RTDS/RSCAD.
- Conduct Control Performance Simulation Studies and support dynamic performance‑related studies during PSCAD simulations, Factory Acceptance Tests, and commissioning activities.
- Analyze customer requirements, grid codes, and technical specifications; translate them into verification cases and acceptance criteria.
- Present performance results to internal stakeholders and customers; investigate root causes of deviations and drive mitigation actions.
- Collaborate closely with Control Application, System Studies, System Design, and R&D teams to ensure high‑quality deliveries.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship within the team, contributing to competence development and continuous knowledge sharing.
Your Background
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5–8 years’ experience in power‑converter control and EMT simulations (PSCAD, RTDS/RSCAD).
- Strong understanding of control theory for high‑power electronic converters.
- Experience from customer‑facing engineering environments.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Experience with MACH™/HiDraw development (a merit).
- Knowledge of grid‑code compliance or grid‑forming converter applications is advantageous.
- Strong analytical ability with a structured approach to problem‑solving.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and work both independently and within cross‑functional teams.
