BT Technical Specialist – Software Engineering (AI-enabled, 2 positions)

In this role, you’ll help teams turn business needs into working solutions across our products and domains. You’ll work in an AI-native way: exploring ideas quickly, improving how we build and validate software, and delivering outcomes that are secure, reliable, and maintainable. The work may include improvements and maintenance of existing solutions, as well as efforts to enhance efficiency and performance. Depending on your interests and the team’s needs, the role can be versatile—with assignments that shift in a project‑like manner—or more focused on a specific area, such as testing or software development.

Your focus for the summer may include (depending on your interests):

  • Building AI-assisted features and automations, including tool-using AI agents that support real workflows
  • Quality engineering: improving test coverage, accelerating feedback loops, and strengthening release confidence through better test practices and automation
  • Improving engineering fundamentals: security, operational stability, and maintainability in selected components

What you bring to the team

You will likely succeed if you have:

  • Understanding of SDLC and basic software architecture principles
  • Some hands-on experience building or testing software (from idea to a working outcome)
  • Curiosity and initiative: you enjoy experimenting, learning fast, and collaborating with others
  • Interest or first-hand experience using AI tools to support engineering work (e.g., prototyping, debugging, test design, documentation) and a mindset to validate outputs responsibly
  • Basic programming/scripting skills (e.g., TypeScript/JavaScript, C#, Python) and Git familiarity

Nice to have:

  • Experience with test automation, CI/CD, or test management tools (e.g., TestRail)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and/or IaC (Terraform)
