Assignment Description
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer
What You Will Work On
- Integrating mechanical components developed by partner organizations into a central master CAD model
- Participating in system assembly, machine installation, and operational activities in laboratory and assembly hall environments
- Creating, maintaining, and updating 2D drawings within a CATIA environment and managing them in the internal CAD management system
- Producing 2D drawings from 3D models and generating 3D models based on 2D input or requirement specifications
- Developing conceptual, preliminary, detailed, and manufacturing drawings and models using CATIA V6
- Preparing, updating, and reviewing technical documentation and engineering packages
- Producing installation drawings and supporting on-site installation coordination
- Following up manufacturing activities, monitoring supplier performance, and conducting engineering quality and acceptance inspections
- Reviewing mechanical drawings in line with applicable standards and norms (e.g.
GPS tolerancing, ISO standards)
- Acting as a reviewer within the mechanical engineering discipline
- Documenting, presenting, and communicating engineering work and results
What You Bring
- Higher technical education or university degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical CAD design engineering
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with CATIA design tools
- Experience working with design maturity, version control, and release processes
- Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and its application in production drawings
- Experience with maintenance and installation drawings in industrial environments (meriting)
- Experience with technical documentation and configuration management (meriting)
- Experience designing mechanical equipment for accelerator or detector environments (meriting)
- Exposure to engineering domains such as radiation environments, vacuum systems, pressure, gas flow, magnetic fields, RF systems, high-temperature, cryogenic systems, or electrical/electronic interfaces (meriting)
- Previous experience from scientific or research facilities (meriting)
